Visualising

Visualising is when the reader uses their prior knowledge and experiences to create a mental image of what is happening in the text. You can use your 5 senses to make the story come alive. Visualising helps the reader connect with, and become a part of the story.

Everyone can create their own unique images in their head, which is why visualising is such an important comprehension strategy.

Read the following chapter from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, then list the words and phrases used to describe the setting. Draw a picture of what you imagine the setting to look like based on what language the author has used.
